The seller offers for sale this 1958 Austin-Healey 100/6 BN4, originally delivered in the UK in January 1958, finished in Colorado Red with a red leather interior matching its heritage certificate. This right-hand drive cabriolet has been restored to a high standard. Restoration was carried out with a focus on weight-saving, including aluminium wings and bonnet. It retains its original black factory hardtop and is supplied with a new soft top and matching side screens.
Mechanically, the car has been upgraded with a 3.0L straight-six in “fast road” specification, featuring triple SU carburetors, a tubular exhaust manifold, a stainless steel side exhaust, aluminium sump and rocker cover, and a large-capacity aluminium fuel tank fed by a Facet fuel pump. The engine runs on unleaded petrol. Braking is improved with a front disc conversion and dual-circuit system. It rides on upgraded 72-spoke wire wheels wrapped in brand new classic-style tyres.
Inside, the red leather upholstery remains largely intact with some patina on the driver’s seat but no tears or damage. The soft top and side screens are new. It is equipped with a Halda Tripmaster and period-style rally chrono, reflecting its Mille Miglia eligibility. The dashboard and switchgear appear original, in line with the restoration’s traditional approach.
Overall, the car is in a good condition. The car was brought to Belgium in 2013, repainted and then stored for 10 years. It has since been recommissioned with new brakes and lines. It is currently not registered for road use in Belgium but is sold with both UK and Belgian (E705) papers.
Austin-Healey’s 100/6, introduced in 1956 as a development of the original 100, added two rear seats (in BN4 form) and a six-cylinder engine for more power and refinement. Though early cars had 2.6L engines, later versions were fitted with the 2.9L C-Series straight-six, like this example. It helped transition the brand’s identity from no-frills sports cars to more mature grand tourers without sacrificing British charm.
Assembled at the MG plant in Abingdon and styled by Gerry Coker, the 100/6 was known for its balanced handling, classic low-slung proportions, and the unmistakable front grille. Its appeal lies in its duality: it offers both long-distance cruising ability and strong rally credentials. The BN4, with its 2+2 seating, was especially popular in export markets and lends itself well to touring events.
This car’s rally-focused modifications and presentation with heritage documents makes it a potential candidate for historic motorsport or prestigious vintage road events. The rare inclusion of a factory hardtop, upgraded mechanicals, and detailed history—including its time in the Netherlands post-restoration and its long-term storage—make it a distinctive proposition for collectors seeking a usable, eligible classic.
